With victories like these... 10:52 am
I know Iraqi politicians wrangling over oil revenue isn't as exciting as American troops kicking ass and taking names, but like it or not, a war like this will be won or lost in the political sphere. It seems some political reconciliation between the Iraqis is finally taking place.

An agreement spanning hard-line Shia Muslims, secularists and Sunni representatives set the outlines for a broad-based alliance capable of mounting a parliamentary challenge to the ruling coalition led by the prime minister Nouri al-Malaki.

A shared platform welded together the radical Shia cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, the moderate former prime minister Ayad Allawi and even a Sunni leader, Salah al-Mutlak.

A statement said the parties would resist proposals to grant regional governments control over oil resources and push for the abandonment of a referendum on the disputed city of Kirkuk.

Hmm. Probably not what Washington had in mind. In addition to all of the problems within the Iraqi government, there is now an organized and powerful voting bloc dedicated to thwarting the political goals the "surge" was supposed to make possible.

Michigan Democrats for Mitt Romney: America's Mitten takes off the gloves. Romney should drop out immediately so as not to play into their hands. I mean for cryin' out loud, even his fakeness is fake.

There aren't any substantial differences between Mike Huckabee and George W. Bush that I can see. He's made all the right enemies though, and I might start rooting for him just to see the secular fundamentalists panic.
