Bio
Me, according to Myers-Briggs.

If I had to use one word to describe myself, it would be "sinner." I'm a convert to Catholicism who's trying every day to think with the Church. Politically, I would describe myself as a traditionalist conservative. I reject all forms of liberalism in principle (including classical) so I tend to make everyone furious when I talk politics. My qualifications for pontificating on religion and politics are that I am some guy. I don't write about myself very often for the sensible reason that I am really quite boring. The drama of salvation history though is endlessly fresh and exciting.

The philosophers of ethics I most identify with:

1. Aquinas (100%)
2. St. Augustine (82%)
3. Aristotle (74%)
4. Spinoza (71%)
5. Ockham (53%)
6. Epicureans (47%)
7. Cynics (44%)
8. Jeremy Bentham (44%)
9. Plato (43%)
10. John Stuart Mill (41%)
11. Stoics (40%)
12. Nietzsche (39%)
13. David Hume (33%)
14. Ayn Rand (29%)
15. Jean-Paul Sartre (28%)
16. Thomas Hobbes (21%)
17. Kant (19%)
18. Prescriptivism (15%)
19. Nel Noddings (14%)

The problem with Christianity is not that it has been tried and found wanting, but that it has been found difficult, and left untried - G.K. Chesterton

Men stumble over the truth from time to time, but most pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing happened - Winston Churchill

There are only two kinds of people in the end: those who say to God, "Thy will be done," and those to whom God says, in the end, "Thy will be done" - C.S. Lewis

I am the king's good servant, but God's first - St. Thomas More

If we wish to proceed securely in all things, we must hold fast to the following principle: What seems to me white, I will believe black if the hierarchical Church so defines. For I must be convinced that in Christ our Lord, the Bridegroom, and in His spouse, the Church, only one Spirit holds sway, which governs and rules for the salvation of souls. For it is by the same Spirit and Lord who gave the Ten Commandments, that our holy mother Church is ruled and governed - St. Ignatius Loyola

Religion blushing veils her sacred fires,
And unawares Morality expires - Alexander Pope

If Christianity goes, the whole of our culture goes. Then you must start painfully again, and you cannot put on a new culture ready-made. You must first wait for the grass to grow to feed the sheep to give the wool out of which your new coat will be made. You must pass through many centuries of barbarism. We should not live to see the new culture, nor would our great-great-grandchildren; and if we did not one of us would be happy in it - T.S. Eliot

The principles are settled. Life is the pageant of men and women living up to them or failing to live up to them - and I think that today, if we are to save ourselves, we need to close our minds, to take honor's worth for granted and to escape back into certainty from the atmosphere of eternal questioning - Christopher Hollis, Death of a Gentleman

Nietzsche was stupid and abnormal - Leo Tolstoy

When push comes to shove, you've gotta do what you love, even if it's not a good idea - Hermes Conrad, Futurama
